Debbie Kaiman Tillinghast is a Rhode Island resident who grew up on a small island in Narragansett Bay, called Prudence. Debbie began writing as she embarked on a quest to reconnect with her island roots, starting with a cookbook for her family. Her first published book, The Ferry Home, is a memoir about her Prudence Island childhood. Debbie, a retired teacher and nutrition educator, loves being outdoors, gardening, biking and walking beaches. She continues to write essays that reflect her connection to the ocean, nature and the changing seasons.
