About The Book

A daring imagining of divine presence in the modern age—told through love, sacrifice, and global consequence.

What if the impossible happened again?

Set against the shadowed world of underground churches and state surveillance, Daughter of God is a sweeping work of spiritual fiction that dares to imagine a modern miracle—and the cost of believing in it.

In 1990s China, Li Ying is a quiet, devout young woman whose life is already shaped by secrecy and faith practiced in hiding. When she discovers she is miraculously pregnant, her claim that the child is conceived by God ignites a chain of events that will endanger everyone she loves. As government authorities close in, Ying and her partner, Cheng, are forced to flee, carrying not only an unborn child but a destiny that transcends borders, cultures, and belief systems.

When the child, Jia, is born, it becomes clear she is not of the world. From infancy through childhood, she quietly transcends expectations, her presence bringing calm where there is violence and healing where there is brokenness. As Jia grows, her journey leads her to America where her purpose begins to take shape—and where her existence is embraced by some and violently rejected by others.

From the tense corridors of underground Catholic churches to Tibetan monasteries, the teeming streets of India, and the global crossroads of Hong Kong, Daughter of God unfolds as both a political chase and a deeply human story of love, sacrifice, and hope. At its heart is a single, haunting question: What happens when faith collides with authority—and a miracle refuses to remain hidden?

About The Author

Liam K. Scott writes psychological fiction that explores power, morality, and the fascinating ways people justify their worst decisions. A voracious reader his whole life, he found himself drawn to those rare authors who explored the gaps in sacred stories—the years the scriptures skip, the doubts no one recorded, the humanity behind the mythology. He sought books that asked inconvenient questions about faith, leadership, and whether it's possible to be a decent person in indecent systems. Not able to find enough of these books, he decided to write one. When he's not writing, he's reading philosophy he only half understands, consuming leadership theories with curiosity, communing with nature on a hike or on the links, constantly discerning the purpose in the universe, and enjoying thoughtful, witty art. Liam K. Scott is a pen name for a doctor who lives with his wife and two dogs with two adult children who live too far from home. This is his first novel.
