Warehouse Logistics

Simon & Schuster’s primary Distribution Center is located in Riverside, NJ. From this location in the Philadelphia metro area S&S ships the majority of its books to North America booksellers and supports international distribution. In addition to servicing S&S publishing Divisions, Riverside also supports a number of distribution clients. Customer Operations is also housed in the Riverside location providing Order Entry and Customer Service.

 

 

In addition to Riverside, S&S also ships certain distribution client orders from its newest distribution center in Milan, TN. Returns operation are outsourced to XPO Logistic located in Camp Hill, PA. All USA returns are to be directed to the Camp Hill facility.

 

With more than 1.5 MM square feet of distribution capacity S&S Distribution & Fulfillment provide pick /pack, warehousing, and transportation services to S&S and its Distribution Clients. The Riverside distribution center is fully automated utilizing warehouse management, package control, and transportation systems. These systems are client-server based. Radio frequency, bar coding, extensive conveyors, weigh-in-motion, and voice picking technologies are employed to support complex high volume operations.

Delivery Exceptions

Tamper Evident Tapes are utilized in shipping to deter tampering with our outbound shipments. If a customer receives a pallet size or larger shipment & notices that this tape is not present they should contact our S&S Customer Service & take extra care in checking in the shipment.

 

 

 

Please communicate any delivery problem to our Customer Service Department. For any exceptions, it’s very important to follow the below procedure:

  • Sign the bill of lading or delivery document with the exception.
  • Obtain pertinent information related to the shipment
  • S&S Invoice Number
  • Carrier
  • Bill of Lading Number for freight shipments
  • UPS tracking number for parcel shipments (starts with 1Z…)
  • Digital picture of the problem is very helpful with damages allowing us to determine the root cause.
