About The Book

“With each story, Baker effectively places her characters within the tides of history and emotion.” —Publishers Weekly

Kage Baker’s final collection of Company short stories sees the Company’s agents, both mortal and immortal, working as prostitutes, spies, and treasure-hunters. Much like the Company’s immortal cyborgs, the stories themselves travel through different times, from the Gentlemen’s Speculative Society and Ladies’ Auxiliary in the Victorian era to the golden age of Hollywood and the far future, with stops in between. The final story, “Hollywood Ikons,” was unfinished upon Baker’s death, and completed by her sister, Kathleen Bartholomew.
