About The Book

Come face to face with the Battle of Britain in this scene reproduced from IWM’s Film Archive.

The Battle of Britain was a decisive air campaign fought over southern England in the summer and autumn of 1940. It was one of Britain’s most important victories of the Second World War as it showed Germany could be defeated. As the battle raged over the skies ahead, pilots across Britain scrambled into action, ready to face the enemy. Using rare archival footage from IWM’s unique collection, this flip book brings to life pilots scrambling to action during the Battle of Britain.
