Gallery Books to Publish Dave Portnoy

New York, NY, October 22, 2025 – Gallery Books will publish Dave Portnoy’s CANCEL ME IF YOU CAN on June 30, 2026, it was announced today.

Dave Portnoy is a gambler. From childhood days playing Little League baseball, Portnoy has always bet on himself. That tenacity and ambition is how he built his digital media empire, Barstool Sports. It all started in 2004, when Dave wrote a four-page broadsheet newspaper about what he knew – sports – and distributed it all over Boston. More than twenty years later, Barstool Sports has grown into a nine-figure company with over 300 employees and 150 active brands.

In CANCEL ME IF YOU CAN, Portnoy uses his sharp wit and authentic voice to detail the journey of how he built his polarizing media empire, while refusing to bend the knee to those who tried to tear him down. He has always stayed true to himself, taking on his haters full steam ahead. In his unfiltered style, Dave lays it all out: the hard work, the timing, the luck, the poisonous relationships behind the curtain, and the balls it took to get to where he is today.

Though Portnoy didn’t set out to be a political lightning rod, it happened anyway—and he’s fully aware that half the internet hates him while the other half loves him. The truth? He doesn’t care, as long as people take interest. He's always been brutally honest, and he always will be. Dave’s journey hasn’t been perfect. He’s failed—publicly and personally—and he’s constantly willing to risk it all. Why? Because he already knows what it’s like to lose everything and start over. So why not?

Natasha Simons, Vice President and Executive Editor at Gallery Books, acquired World and audio rights from Byrd Leavell and Pilar Queen at UTA. The author will read the audio which will be simultaneously published by Simon & Schuster Audio Books.
