Gallery Books to Publish VIEW FROM THE EAST WING: A Memoir by Jill Biden
NEW YORK, March 11, 2026—Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, will publish VIEW FROM THE EAST WING, a memoir by former First Lady Jill Biden on June 2, 2026, it was announced today by Jennifer Bergstrom, Executive Vice President and Publisher of Gallery Books.
The book offers a candid and engaging look at a First Lady’s life during a unique time in U.S. history, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and in the shadow of the January 6 insurrection. Jill reflects upon the Biden presidency and its impact on her family. For the first time, she reveals her experiences before, during, and after the unexpected ending to her husband’s bid for re-election. Throughout it all, she saw herself as an ordinary woman, living an extraordinary life.
On acquiring Biden’s memoir Jennifer Bergstrom said, “As First Lady, Jill Biden was a tireless advocate for others, championing women’s health initiatives, military families, cancer prevention, and education. And, as a community college professor, she made history as the only First Lady to hold a career outside the East Wing. It is a great honor to publish this important account of a historical time.”
In VIEW FROM THE EAST WING Jill Biden takes readers behind the scenes at the White House, from planning state dinners to family weekends at Camp David. She sets the record straight — sharing her story in her words, from the perspective of a former First Lady.
Editorial Director Aimee Bell acquired World and audio rights from Deneen Howell at Williams & Connolly. Simon & Schuster Audio will simultaneously publish the audio edition, which will be read by the author.
