Atria Gallery Group Relaunches Pocket Books Imprint
NEW YORK, NY, June 30, 2026—Anh Schluep will join the Atria Gallery Publishing Group, a division of Simon & Schuster, as Vice President, Editorial Director & Deputy Publisher of Pocket Books, reviving and reimagining the model of America’s first pocket-sized paperback line, it was announced today by Jennifer Bergstrom, EVP and Publisher of Gallery Books.
Schluep comes to Pocket Books from Amazon Publishing, where she was Associate Publisher of Montlake, Skyscape, and 47 North imprints. During her fifteen-year tenure at Amazon, she helped launch and build Montlake, a wildly successful romance line, where she published #1 New York Times bestselling authors Colleen Hoover, Devney Perry, Rebecca Yarros, Jeneva Rose, and Sylvia Day, among others. Prior to growing Amazon Publishing’s business, Schluep was in sales at Penguin Random House. In her new position, she will lead the strategic vision and editorial direction of Pocket, re-establishing the imprint as a leader in commercial fiction publishing, with a key focus on romance, and as the top choice for bestselling entrepreneurial authors.
“Anh Schluep is one of the most innovative publishers working in our industry today,” noted Jennifer Bergstrom. “She has deep expertise in how modern authors want to partner with a publisher. I’m thrilled to be working with Anh and delighted to relaunch Pocket Books with its new mission. Pocket will offer a home for forward-thinking writers, including bestselling indie and hybrid authors looking to amplify their reach using our unparalleled strengths in marketing, publicity, and print distribution.”
"I'm excited to be bringing back Pocket Books," Schluep commented. "The imprint, which published its first list in 1939, revolutionized the industry by making books available to readers in non-traditional outlets. The first contemporary U.S. publisher to democratize reading, it became the home for legendary romance authors including Jude Deveraux, Julie Garwood, and Judith McNaught. I look forward to publishing the next generation of fan favorites."
Schluep adds: “This is how I think about it: Pocket Books was originally created to reach a mass market readership. I want to honor that idea and collaborate with authors to bring their stories to the widest audience.”
Along with core romance, the imprint will publish additional genres including romantic thrillers, dark romance, and horror. The imprint expects to launch two to three titles per month starting in January 2027.
Schluep will officially begin at Simon & Schuster on July 1.
