NEW YORK, NY, June 15, 2026—Simon & Schuster and The Black List are bringing metadata from more than 6000 titles in Simon & Schuster’s extensive fiction and non-fiction backlist into The Black List’s material discovery database on blcklst.com, creating a powerful new way for vetted entertainment industry professionals to identify and explore published books for adaptation.

Using their free Black List industry accounts, professionals working in the film, television, theater, and publishing industries can now search and browse more than 6000 titles from the Simon & Schuster catalogue alongside the existing resources hosted on the platform. The integration expands access to published books (including fiction and non-fiction titles) as potential IP, making the discovery process faster and more precise. 

This Initiative brings books from the extensive Simon & Schuster family of imprints to blcklst.com, including Atria Books, Avid Reader Press, Emily Bestler Books, Gallery Books, Saga Press, Scout Press, Scribner, S&S Books for Young Readers, 37Ink and more. 

Notable recent film and television adaptations from the Simon & Schuster family of imprints include POSTMORTEM by Patricia Cornwell (now streaming on Amazon Prime), THE LAST THING HE TOLD ME by Laura Dave (now streaming on Apple TV+), ALL THE LIGHT WE CANNOT SEE by Anthony Doerr (now streaming on Netflix), THE SUMMER I TURNED PRETTY by Jenny Han (now streaming on Amazon Prime), THE OTHER BLACK GIRL by Zakiya Dalila Harris (now streaming on Hulu), VLADIMIR by Julia May Jonas (now streaming on Netflix), THE RUNNING MAN by Stephen King (now streaming on Paramount+) and SALT ACID FAT HEAT by Samin Nosrat (now streaming on Netflix) among many others. 

Popular, yet-to-be-adapted Simon & Schuster titles from prestigious authors including  Sadeqa Johnson, William Kent Krueger and Megan Miranda can be discovered via the Simon & Schuster backlist on blcklst.com.

Industry professionals can discover Simon & Schuster books via searching by title, author, genre and other associated book information available on blcklst.com. Metadata provided by Simon & Schuster includes additional information such as a published book’s imprint, book cover art, pitch/short description, and more.

This initiative also makes it easier for Simon & Schuster authors to list their published books in their Black List profile quickly and efficiently. When Simon & Schuster authors add titles to their Black List profiles, key project fields will be pre-populated, reducing manual entry and ensuring accurate, consistent information across the platform.
