Joe Colquhoun

About The Author

Joe Colquhoun served in the Royal Navy during World War II and won a place at Kingston upon Thames School of Art on his return. His first published work was Carver of the Islands for Jungle Trails in 1951. He worked on a vast range of titles during his thirty-year career in the UK comics industry, including Lion, The Champion, Buster and Battle, on strips such as Legionnaire Terry’s Desert Quest, Roy of the Rovers and Paddy Payne – the adventures of a World War II fighter pilot. He is highly regarded for his work with Battle, including Johnny Red and Charley’s War. Joe sadly died in 1987.
